Nikon V1 and J1 Mirrorless Cameras Officially Announced

Nikon has announced V1 and J1 mirrorless cameras, four new Nikon 1 System lenses and some accessories. The sensors are a new CX-format (joining DX and FX) – 10.1 Megapixels 13.2×8.8mm CMOS . The crop factor is 2.7x.

Nikon J1 is the more compact, less expensive model in the line up. The camera is available in five colors, and color-coordinated lenses are bundled with the camera in lens kits. It features built-in flash. The J1 kit with 10-30mm (27-81mm equiv) lens will be $650 and it is expected to arrive in the US around 20th October.
The V1 is intended as the higher-end model in the lineup and features magnesium alloy construction and a 1.4M dot electronic viewfinder. It also has an accessory port allowing the connection of the SB-N5 mini speedlight or GP-N100 GPS unit. The V1 kit with 10-30mm (27-81mm equiv) lens will be $900 and will be available around 20th October.

The Nikon 1 System will initially launch with 4 new lenses.

- 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 VR (27-270mm equivalent)
- 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 VR (81-297mm equivalent)
The Nikon 1 System will launch with a wide range of accessories, including an ME-1 stereo microphone, GPS Unit GP-N100, Speedlight SB-N5 and mount adapter for F lenses.
